2011 JNC Celebration

How we celebrated our 10-year milestone

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Gettin’ in the Game Junior National Championship (JNC), CSL Behring combined its usual 4 regional competitions into one national competition, which was held from September 23-25 in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. For this year’s special event, CSL Behring invited over 60 bleeding disorder Chapters throughout the United States to each nominate 2 participants–one for golf and one for baseball. During the program, participants had the opportunity to:

  • Participate in a clinic where they learned the fundamentals of baseball or golf and enhanced their skills in either sport
  • Learn about the importance of physical fitness
  • Show off their baseball or golf abilities in a national competition with fellow participants from around the country*
  • Participate in educational seminars by CSL Behring’s Common Factors speaker Felix Garcia
  • Meet members of Hemophilia Moms

GIG hosts and special guests

Keeping with tradition, CSL Behring’s Gettin’ in the Game pro golfer Perry Parker and baseball players Jesse Schrader, Ivan Sada, and Peter Dyson–each of whom has a bleeding disorder–hosted the program. These athletes:

  • Led skill-building activities
  • Recounted how they overcame challenges associated with their disorder
  • Educated participants on the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle

JNC participants also had an opportunity to meet Texas Rangers All-Star C.J. Wilson. C.J. Wilson–founder of C.J. Wilson’s Children’s Charities–has strong ties to the bleeding disorders community and provided additional support and baseball tips to attendees.
